(4) Danger Detection in Safety Valve: Stable Change and Freedom of Speech

In today's world, an 18 year old begins to separate themselves from their pre-existing sociology, adopting their own views and opinions by experiencing and living out in the world. On my own I have had to learn how to do this in society and really read into the laws of the land. An important thing I have been learning about more and more every day is the first amendment, it is extremely important to be well versed in how it works and how you are tethered to it every day in a political/sociological way.

I feel that free expression is already running within me and many people my age because of how I was brought up, but regardless, its important to write about the idea of Stable Change the most. I resonate with it because it has layers to it, talking about the way the government can manipulate aggressors by letting people lash out in smaller ways, in hopes to relieve the stress of lashing out in a bigger way. Right now in my current world, antisemitism seems to be continuously present, things like swastikas or other nazi symbols are still being distributed over places like twitter or in bathroom stalls in youth schools. These aggressions are reprimanded but still lingering, and people wonder as to why this is when in technicality things could be furthered to prevent it. I think this is the perfect example of how anyone in power sees these actions as a freedom of expression, despite its hatred at nature it may be relieving the aggressor from doing an even more harmful act. I do agree with the people who question this for it is wrong for the malice to be there in the first place, but from a view of this power, especially politicians when things like this occur in more severe situations, they examine all the cards in their hand in such a way that if all played correctly, would manipulate dangerous groups who could act out or resort to violence.

Elon Musk, twitter man, is a very big political figure despite his credentials and overall goals. One of these goals was to take over twitter and return it to its unfiltered and unprotected interface that it may have been before. He has been a huge advocate for freedom of speech on the internet, even if that includes talk targeting an individual, a group, or even popular figures in society that use the app. Twitter users respond to his consistent changes almost daily, with criticism from every end. In reality though, this isn't about elon musk.

Another example I wanted to mention is the purge. I like horror movies a lot, and the purge was always interesting to me because it is similar to this idea. Really. When the government needs to find more ways to control its people, this Stable Change feature plays such an important part in this game. The purge acted as a way for the citizens to ‘vent’ hoping that less crimes would be committed, and what's more, hoping they would be protected from change and anger that consistently is found within any human being under political rule.

I think this is such a crucial part of freedom of speech to be aware of as you get older and grow through the world, as to understand why different parts of the government act in the ways they do. Everything that meets the eye is not always what it seems, and looking at the bigger picture is extremely important when facing any sort of uproar within the political world. Sociologically, look out for the signs of this unrest. These are some things to read for you to try and tart thinking about this important leg in our growth through freedom of speech.
